Thanks.** A: I measured both Ball and Kerr wide mouth jars, they are 3 1/4" wide and the sprout lids are 31/2" and fit well. **Q: Do these give a metallic taste to the sprouts?** A: They did give a metallic taste but they rust. I wouldn’t recommend them. **Q: The description on top says 'stainless steel' then later it says iron. Which is it?** A: 1. Steel is made from iron. 2. Neither the rim nor the screen have identifying marks which leaves having them analyzed at a lab. 3. This is a Chinese product and the copy was likely written in Chinese and translated by someone whose first language was not English. 4. As the copy is very specific about the lid being made from 304 Stainless Steel it is likely correct and the reference to the "iron mesh" is a translation error. 5. This would be equivalent to referring to an animal carving done is walnut as a wood carving. 6. If they do rust and you pick up some extra iron, it might cause a little constipation but it might help iron poor blood. **Q: Where are these lids made?** A: Yes, some of them got rusted. Better than plastic. *by S***H on Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2019* At first I tried the most elegantly designed sprouting lids I could find, the plastic ones with built in legs for draining and the little thimble indentation in the center for air circulation and filling with water for rinsing. What I found is that they leaked water onto the windowsill, which attracted fruit flies, which in turn made their way up through the slits and holes in the lid into the jar, then they would breed and lay eggs on the sprouts. I ditched those then tried these lids. Instead of trying to prop them upside down, I just shake the water out gently as much as I can then keep them upright. Keeping it simple like this seems to work best and also keeps the lids from rusting. a small amount of standing water in the bottom of the jar is no big deal if you rinse once or twice a day. Just soak the seeds over night, rinse them in the morning and keep them in the dark for 3 or 4 days rinsing once or twice a day, then bring them onto the light for a few days to green them up. I start a new one every night with 2 teaspoons of alfalfa seeds in a 1/2 ct. jar to ensure fresh side of greens daily all week long for me and my two bearded dragons. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars High quality lids *by J***N on Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2021* I'm actually using these with a drinking lid insert on my mason jars instead of the cheaper rings that are prone to rust.
