(without spoilers of course) *by R***. on Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2020* A Bond-like villain; the last general of the alien Airlia intended in punishing the human race while intended in make a device to ask for reinforcements; a mysterious being looking for ways to uncover the hidden truth of Lisa Duncan past; renegade watchers that don't limit themselves to watch; these are some parts of the book that I liked, which are enriched by the militar expertise of the writer who was a special forces soldier, so the tactics go beyond the limitations of writers that usually only get to imagine the Troy Horse. But what made me love this book was the final, all the things that bugged me, as the contempt the Airlia had in regard of humans, the superiority of Aspasia's Shadow toward the best humanity could do against him, the why the Airlia are in this planet, all those things have a very good answer in just a short statement, which makes it the most shocking.Somehow I consider this book the last one of the series. Not that the rest are not interesting, they are and a lot as I loved the eighth book "Nosferatu," is that the next books in the series seem to be quite different from the world it portrayed in the beginning. The books after this one show a bit more of the past, answer some additional questions, but they are another world apart from this one. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Love these books *by G***Y on Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2022* Read the whole first series and this series is just as good. Keeps you wanting to read and read. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Truth Could Be Called "The Revolution" *by M***C on Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2015* This series is high quality sci fi, with pretty good editing and a nice flow from scene to scene. I was used to the Tom Clancy style of abrupt changes, but Bob Mayer's transitions are much smoother and somewhat more logical. He's kind enough to spend time orienting readers who pick up this book without having read the earlier parts of the series, but for those of us who have read the series from the beginning, it just means we have to skip large sections at the beginning. Some sections are pretty gruesome, so I wouldn't recommend this book for younger teens, but the story keeps you reading to find out if humans have victory over seemingly impossible odds. If the author ever reads these reviews, I would suggest a more rigorous editor...I have an extreme sensitivity to misused words, dangling participles, and repetitive analogies, so the prose would be less jarring if some of these problems were addressed. "The Truth" is the end of the actual series, though there are follow-on novels that pick up some of the themes developed here.
