My wife smokes out on our deck and down by our pond and I searched a long time for an ashtray that could be left outside in the weather. One that when it rains won't fill up with water and create a nasty sludge. This ashtray is perfect for outside (or inside as it looks great too). Both the lid and container are made of machined aluminum so will never rust. The colors are powder coated on so will never come off. (powder coating is used for car wheels and parts) Since it's made out of metal it's heavy enough that you don't have to worry about it blowing off a table and such.My wife is the smoker and has commented about the little details like how the holes to hold a cigarette are perfectly done and the center section is just right so that you don't get ashes everywhere when you flip the lid. I wanted something that would look nice and hide the cigarette butts and smell. We both are happy.
