I had another one before that that was bad as well. The factory used glue to put it together and the spirits I put in it tasted like turpentine or worse. The one I have now the spigot does not dispense the product unless I use a wire to unclog it and then only a few drops come out. I tried to remove the spigot but it seems to be glued in as well. I noticed that the barrel is varnished on the out side which I did not remember ordering because the wood needs to breath.No, not a happy camper with this or the first one. I can make the oak flavor better just by putting shared oak chips in it and letting it set. ### ⭐ Ruins your spirit *by F***N on September 16, 2017* This spirits I put in these barrels were ruined by whatever was already inside. At first, the empty barrels smelled like sweet bourbon (with a little bourbon actually still left inside) but after a a couple of weeks of aging a perfectly good white spirit in the same barrels, a gross odor was apparent. It smells like chemical adhesive or turpentine mixed with good booze. So, whatever they do to make these barrels (glue, adhesive, varnish or whatever) it will ruin your spirit no matter how much they "pre-cure" with bourbon.
