If you have a solid state drive, then you can simply remove 4 screws to take out the SATA drive holder and cable. This makes plenty of room for the battery. The kit comes with a small Philips and Torx screwdrivers and a handy little guitar pick to help open the case. The whole process took maybe 20 minutes from turning off the computer to rebooting. Note that the back three screws on this laptop are "capture screws" and do not come out of the bottom plate when they are unscrewed. The only drawback of this particular battery is that it does not come with the cable that goes from the battery to the motherboard. You'll need to carefully remove the battery from your old battery. I can get about 4 hours plus on a full charge, so I'm careful to not leave it on charge past about 100%. Installation was easy, but Dell makes taking the back off somewhat time consuming...about 12 screws to take out to remove the entire back panel--no battery access panel on this Inspiron 17 model. That the screw driver needed was included with the battery was a plus, although I have a collection of jeweler's screw drivers which would do the job.
