Can't speak to chewability as my bird has not chewed on it - he tends not to chew his perches. He easily moves on and off the perch to travel around. The texture gives him a safe and secure place to grip. The size was a touch smaller than I was expecting but it still works well for my Amazon parrot - next time I will get the slightly longer one.
