Ordered gray, which the handle strap is but the rest is black (not that I care). The material is that grippy sort of plasticized material that is often used as texture patches on other items. Someone else commented that it's too full - mine came with a velcroed-down filler neck which isn't really obvious in the pictures that would allow you to add, remove or replace the filler. The fill neck is secured by velcro on both the inside and the outside. The filler is very small styrofoam balls or beads, about 1/8" in diameter. Time will show if it holds up to repeated use or if they get crushed, but like I said you can refill it or use a different filler. I'm very happy with it, seems like a bargain for the $15 price.
