It may work for short periods but would burn out quickly so not recommended. **Q: Can the relay be continuously energised? I want it to close a separate circuit in the event of power failure. Thank you.** A: I don't see why not, mine is used to operate parts of my water & central heating system and remains energised for the duration of time the heating is called for.
