It holds up to 330 lbs. And, it folds flat for storage. It's stable, meaning there's no shake back & forth when you stand on it. I set up my 6 ft aluminum ladder on it as well. For safety reasons, the make of this platform recommends using only their ladders which might be a bit safer. Obviously you must be very mindful of where you place your feet at any given time -- but just use common sense. The 2 front legs are independently adjustible, as are the 2 horizontal back extensions that rest on the upper stair or landing. It comes with an easy to understand manual written in several different languages. Even if you use this platform for only 1 project, consider all the money you save by not having to hire a handyman or painter. Myself plus ladder and tools will exceed this 330lb.** A: I assume then that you are using 375 pound duty rated ladders for everything? This thing won’t work with six foot ladders because it’s not a large enough platform. It only works with four foot, or the step stool/ladder pictured. **Q: Is this product osha approved?** A: I can’t say this platform is OSHA approved. But I will say I gave it a workout while I used it on my staircase. I pushed the weight rating and then some. The backup battery finally died, and there was no place to put any kind of ladder. I was so relieved to find this product. This platform is very sturdy and sits securely in place. It is light weight and super easy to set up and take down. It was so easy to use I completed my task, took photos, and started writing this review within about 30 minutes of delivery. It works like a folding table but with only 2 legs. Just release the leg set, place the non-leg end on one step and the legs on a lower step. Adjust the legs so the platform sits level and confirm they are locked in place. There are 2 convenient hand holes in the center of the platform that make it easy to carry and position. The feet have non-slip rubber soles, and the top of the platform has a non-slip surface that keeps the step ladder securely in place without any sliding. It's a long way down, but felt absolutely safe getting up on this thing. I no longer dread having to service this smoke detector or the light near it.
