The last I checked there are a few companies that produce these style of tourniquet that are having copyright or other legal issues with C.A.T.s manufacturer and could not apply for the rating. I have used these and can't tell a difference other than the grip hole in the loop and the metal windlass over the plastic C.A.T has . Hope that answers the question. **Q: Whats the difference between gen 3 and gen 4?** A: The Gen 3 has a composite only windlass locking mechanism while the Gen 4 has a metal insert under the composite in the locking mechanism for more strength. As some people are whining and complaining that its fake. They are meant to be used 1 time, NOT practice over and over. One person even posted a picture of the WRONG tourniquet and stated it was junk. These have a strong aluminum windless, kevlar stitching and a hole in the tail of ths strap.
