The cutting surface is the same you would use on a horse> I am going to trim cow feet dont need handles?** A: I don't think the cutting surface is the same as a set for horses **Q: Would this work for trimming chestnuts on a regular size horse?** A: I've never removed chestnuts on a horse. These trimmers are nice and sharp but you need lots of hand strength to use them for hooves. I have 2 minis and found them difficult to use for that reason. They are nice and small and would fit well in a womans hand, but you really need strength to cut anything hard. They are the only tool that helps me take off a decent amount. They came nicely greased up. Only complaint I have is that within weeks it started rusting. And I've kept them inside the house on the floor of my closet. So not sure why they rusted ?
