Kel-Von-A-Tor Vintage Reissue Series Kay K775V Jazz II Electric Guitar The Kay Jazz II was the cutting edge of electric guitar designs and is among the most famous and revered Kay Vintage collected guitars. The Kay K775V Jazz II has features that are as relevant today as it was when it was originally released in the1960s. The K775V is a double cutaway, hollow body with “f” holes, arched top and back, slim fast action upgraded with a set neck with bound rosewood fingerboard, mother of pearl shark fin inlays, two “Kleenex Box” Gold K (Barney Kessel) pickups, Grover Rotomatics nickel machine heads, "Kel-Von-A-Tor" headstock and a Bigsby vibrato. The Kay K775V Jazz II is an extremely versatile instrument for stage and studio, due to guitar’s ability to deliver a range of sounds from warm jazz to shredding heavy metal. In 1963, a 17-year-old Eric Clapton used Kay Jazz II while with his first band “The Roosters”. Striking beauty, tone and playability make this guitar an overall winner in any style of music and provides a vintage-chic that will wow the crowd. Finishes: Ice Tea Sunburst, Blonde and Black. Very Cool, Gig it Dig it

After reading other reviews prior to my purchase I was somewhat hesitant to buy one. Upon the unboxing, I was blown away! All I did was tune it up and was ready to go, factory setup was spot on. Does the Motown Trip Hop Chill bass lines for me but is easily suitable for other styles and genres. The case is also really nice.(Been playing for over 25 years have owned many guitars and basses)

    shop around

*by N***O on Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2019*

the asking prices on these varies a LOT, so shop around. The body and neck are great. Low action, really good flatwound strings (how weird is that? They appear to be laBella flats), but be aware that this bass needs medium scale strings. The tuning machines are very nice, the neck is one piece without a scarf. medium-light weight, and well-balanced with the right strap, but slight neck dive with a slick strap. The tone is great, with very deep bass, but it is truly a one-trick-pony sound-wise. A Hofner 500 (or any other bass for that matter) offers many more tones if that is what you're after. If you want a cool bass that has a deep, thumpy, 60's tone, this will probably satisfy you. Nice workmanship (better than the originals for the most part). I would have liked slightly better fret work, but it plays up and down the board fine. truss rod works well, volume/tone pots are full-sized, but the jack is cheap, so I replaced it with a Switchcraft. The case is fantastic. I really like this bass. As I said, shop carefully. This bass new can vary by as much as $1000....what?...yes. I saw them for $1600 and also for $450 new. used they range from $600-900. that is nutty stuff.

A Very Good Replica Guitar but Expressively Dead for a Contemp Bass

*by C***S on Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2019*

Carrying this bass around the thought occured...such a heavy bass that barely makes a sound. If you want a Kay bass then this will probably satisfy you. These are a very nice replica, but the sound is so primitive,I feel I am playing some home made jug bass, working to get any touch of expression in the sound.Kay Bass originally had a very limited use and these are just as limited. This nails the dead sound of a Kay Bass.I was expecting a little more after seeing what Hofner is doing with the CT Hollowbodies.I put this through it's paces on a high end split set up to see if it has a voice. If the Hof CT series sings, then this guitar hums with the pillow over it's head. There is just very limited sampling of the string sound to work with.I was excited to try this "contemperary" version. As a bass fanatic, I found this guitar to be expressively dead. There is really not much I can do with it.There are MUCH better hollowbodies out there, with tremendous sound range. lots of incredible sounding basses. This thing is basically built like a tank, but sustains like a thin sheet of paper.I was expecting the Pickups to do something with that heavy body sustain.I have to admit I was shocked at how poor the white plastic guard and knobs look.At some point I started feeling like I got a musical instrument from the gift shopat a musem.
