There is a difference and I cant find the latter!!??** A: I have to disagree on the Hot Tools 24k Gold curling iron. Unfortunately your hair won't slide out of it like the Conair chrome barrel did, it's ok but not as nice. The barrel feels like a cheap metal, don't think you're getting a 24k gold barrel for $30, you're not. There are also a lot of complaints that it burns people's hair and stops working after a short period of time. I also contacted Conair and clarified that they no longer manufacture the chrome barrel curling irons at all. If you miss them, like I do, please call them like I did and request that they resume making them again - 1-800-326-6247. I've yet to find a suitable alternative, at least for the 1 1/2" barrel.
