The shelves themselves do not secure to the shelving supports. It does what I want it to but it isn't quite what I wanted. Was hoping for something sturdier. On the plus side, you do not need a screwdriver or specialized tools to get this put together. Just a hammer to knock the shelf supports to the corner posts. With that stated, it'll work fine for general household items. The wood is actually particle board or sawdust and glue. I put one outside in a shed, the other is in my basement. I suspect I will get years of use from both.p.s. it's very easy to assemble, 15 to 20 minutes. Step 1, pull the instructions back out of the trash can. ### ⭐⭐ Prefect for storing balls of yarn or empty storage bins. But it is extremely unstable. I don't let my children retrieve or deposit items on the shelf for fear they will bump it the wrong way and it will fall on them. I'm hesitant to put anything heavy on it. I have it in my utility room holding craft items and household odds and ends.
