The longest tip on the large measures 2"; slightly less than 1" wide at the fullest point. The longer small tip measures slightly less than 1 1/2 " and slightly less than 1" wide at the fullest point. The longest tip is designed to fold to the front. I hope this both makes sense and is helpful. (See photos of separators.) **Q: how many to an order?** A: They actually last a long time. I have only used two so far and ordered them several months ago **Q: Should I use a small or larger size? I have size 12 feet and want to use between 3rd and 4th toe.** A: This should be an adequate size to provide cushioning. The size is fine between every toe of my size 8 feet (woman). If your big toe is starting to cross your second toe because of a bunion you would need a better spacer for that. Also available on Amazon, and I've purchased them as well. **Q: How thick are they?** A: They are about 1/8" thick. One responder noted that they are slippery and do not stay in place, but that is not 100% accurate from my experience. Correct, they do not stay in place if you wear a very loose fitting shoe, flip-flop, sandal, etc. The reason they work for me is that I still professionally dress every day for my job, so I still want to wear fashionable shoes. My shoes are typically snug through the toe area. When I put the gel separator between the affected toes and hold it in place while I put the shoe on, then the separator stays in place all day. All I know is, I used to have shooting pain, as if hitting a nerve, whether I had shoes on or not, almost unbearable, but this has corrected the problem for me. My podiatrist gave me the first one, but I cannot find them in any drug store. I think they are rather pricey, but they are washable and re-usable, which helps. Make sure to use talc after washing them. *by S***R on January 3, 2020* For the first time in my life, I had a corn between my big toe and the one next to it due to a bone broken years ago from stubbing. It started to bother me with awful pain. Examining my toes, I found the tiny bump and thought I needed a cushion. I had no desire to stand around in a drug store and settle on some high priced thing so I did research online and it led me to these. I will say there was a learning curve for me. Where the toes meet, there is a curve. After wearing them all day, they got bent. I washed them and tried to use them again but found them moving inside my shoes. I was determined to keep trying because these are what many podiatrists recommend and the other ones out there seemed worse, larger and not so soft. I threw a couple away after they got bent because they wouldn't stay. I finally read the directions that say after washing to put talc on them. Also, instead of just washing them and leaving them out, I placed them between clean plastic and set a heavy jar on top. AND I used a little talcum (baby) powder on them after washing and drying. Well, I now they do not move in my shoe at all and I have been able to use the same one for over a week now. I am so happy I did not give up. If you find they do not stay in place, please make sure you use the talc on them after washing. My entire experience changed with these once I followed their directions. D'oh! Also, YAY! The corn is now gone! I will wear these forever or I know it will come back. I am happy I did not have to see the podiatrist. The price of these is well worth the results. They are soft as silk and I don't even know they are there except that I have NO PAIN now.
