Without the excessive pleats it does not have the all too common oversized miniskirt appearance. The waist band on the front wears very close to my belly button and I like that. There is no ugly brand logo which is nice. The tiny pocket is barely big enough for a small house key and is typically insecure. The stitching quality is as good as the major brands costing three times more. Yes, running shorts are the biggest rip-offs from the usual suspects. The key is to buy them off season. A good small purchase makes me smile. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ light, short, and CHEAP *by D***Y on August 21, 2013* I am opposed to spending too much on workout clothing, I also do not like running shorts or shirts that are not purpose-built for running and am fairly picky in this regard; the clothes cannot be too long, too heavy, have too much stitching, the stitching cannot rub, etc... I also (for better or worse) am not a slave to trends and could not care less how my clothes look while I'm sweating my *$$ off running from the middle-age spread and poor health which come from inadequate activity. I wear them road and trail running. I do not wear them to the gym. These shorts are very light. The material is wispy-thin. They have no pockets (except for a very small key pocket inside the elastic band) or zippers, snaps, buttons, or ties. They are lined, but there is no extraneous material for decoration or otherwise. Regarding that last point, pay attention to the inseam length on these. I do not wear these to the gym because these things are as close to naked as I can comfortably get and still feel within the law when I am outside the house. There are those among your friends and relations who may mock your short-shorts (the runners won't), because these shorts are extremely short. The word 'short' appears in that last sentence 4 times for a purpose. You have been warned. Even I -- thick-skinned as I might be -- have to keep reminding myself that the green version of these are worn by Marines for PT (physical training). How embarrassed can one be dressed like a Marine? And while I am running in them, their brevity is a feature I love -- it adds to the feeling that they aren't even there. A concern I had when I first bought them was that their thinness was an indication that they were not durable. That has not proved to be true. This pair is my second, and the first has lasted for years with only minor pilling in the liner. No dead elastic, no wear holes, no undone seams. The same cannot be said for a big name brand pair which I have had for less time and which cost twice as much on sale! Finally the regular price is unbelievably low, especially for purpose-built running shorts, and Amazon usually discounts them further. If you're a value-shopper and you run for your health or pleasure (not because you look awesome while running), and you are somewhat thick-skinned against the inevitable taunts of your loved ones, these are great.
