Review: TravelPro Wins - About 20 years ago, I joined a consulting firm that required a lot of travel and my research found that “TravelPro” was the best line of luggage one could buy. I bought a carry on and a 25” suitcase from TravelPro. To this day, I have never had an issue with those pieces of luggage. The fabric is durable, zippers work great, wheels roll smoothly, and the extension handle works perfeclty. As I get older, I noticed that is is very uncomfortable and almost painful to pull luggage without spinner wheels. While my two TravelPro suitcases still work great, I decided to get one with spinner wheels. I see people in the airport walking with ease with their suitcase rolling along side them and I feel a pang of jealousy. This suitcase is great. The spinner wheels work great. The suitcase is also super light. I was considering the 25” Platinum Elite Softside with Spinner Wheels but that weighs 9.7 lbs whereas this one weighs 7.3 pounds (based on desertcart Product Information). I bought this one and when I took it out of the box, I felt that either my pilates sessions are paying off and I’m super strong or this suitcase is super light. I have packed this one up to 65.5 lbs. and while it is heavy to get off the baggage claim merry-go-round, once you have this standing up on its wheels, you can move around super easily. I thought that this would have less packing space than my existing 25” TravelPro. It looks smaller. But I was able to pack sneakers, shower slippers, clothes, a weighted blanket, two bottles of wine, and 4 bottles of craft beer in this suitcase without issue. I have always used soft side suitcases and I love the 2” expansion space on TravelPro’s 25” suitcases. I highly recommend this suitcase. The cost is reasonable, the brand is durable and reliable, the spinner wheels allow me to move around without shoulder pain/strain, and this suitcase is super light.
Review: Travelpro Tourlite Carry On - I have an old "Ricardo Beverly Hills" black soft side 4 wheel that I picked up 12+ years ago at a Kohls (or one of those type stores) as a carry on (from now on referred to as old suitcase--OS). It worked pretty well, and I didn't travel as much then. Since Covid, I'm traveling much more often, both Internationally and domestically, and the wheels are starting to give out and the telescoping handle is starting to stick. So I've been eyeing Travelpro--specifically the Crew Classic carry on. It went on sale over the holidays so I ordered one. It was very nice, well constructed, classy. However, it was a full pound heavier than my OS--7.7lbs empty, to be exact (don't believe the website, I weighed it myself with a handheld scale). Well, many Asian and European airlines have weight limits for their carry ons (7kgs/15lbs), plus I'm 60 and short and weight matters lifting those suckers over my head. (I only bring carry-ons--for what I do I can't chance losing all my stuff to baggage purgatory.) So I went back to desertcart and found this suitcase--the Tourlite Softside. You can't find it on the Travelpro website, so I think it isn't made anymore. It was $90 cheaper than the Crew (even on sale), and a pretty color (purple), so I ordered it. It's the same size as the Crew, but a full 2lbs lighter (5.6#). Lighter even than the OS. In comparison to packing volume, the TP is the same hight and depth but an inch narrower. It makes up packing volume by dropping part of the case down between the wheels, while OS is basically a box with 4 wheels attached. I still think it loses a bit from the wheel wells, but the inside measurement of the hight is an inch higher than the OS, so I think the volume is very close. Wheels roll at the lightest touch, and handle telescope is solid. I also like that the large front pocket is larger than the OS, so you can slide full sized paperwork into it, plus it has a small top outside pocket for small stuff you need to reach easily. The OS has shoe pockets on the inside of the lid, which I prefer, but I can adjust the one large inside pocket since it does have a small zippered pocket inside the larger cavity. What I really like it the expansion zipper goes around the bottom, making the case more stable when expanded, while the OS had it's expansion zipper over the top, make it less stable when expanded. I suspect that the Crew is a little more well made and would last longer, and if you travel domestically only I would still recommend it--but I couldn't tolerate the extra weight. I purchased a July carry-on last year for my trip to Australia, since the Light is only 3.4lbs, but it is hard sided and very small, which severely limits how much you can fit in it. I still use it for overnight/2 night trips sometimes, but I need more space for the 4-5 days I usually spend in Asia. I have only used it a few times so far, but it's worked well for me and I look forward to another decade of hard use.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sturdy and lightweight.
*by T***S on August 9, 2026*

Light, sturdy, rolls well, and nice to have a color different from the standard black or blue. I’m a ‘late boarding groups’, traveller, so i have to frequently gate-check my roller, and it’s done very well. It’s also much easier to roll through crowded airports for tight connections when I don’t have to gate-check.
