And for the price, I thought it was worth the try. Usually, when in doubt, I purchase items ahead of time so that I may be able to "test" the quality before handing it off as a gift. After all, I wouldn't want to give out a regretful gift.I like the carrying bag that came with it. It's good for compacting. After opening the tripod from the carry bag, the product looked used and dirty with few areas that had dark residue on certain areas of the legs (shown in photos). The legs feel a little flimsy when fully expanded. The package describes that it was made for DSLR and Camcorders (photo on package shows professional camcorder on box), but I don't believe that it will hold well.Overall, as mentioned before, the price range was decent and I will commit to giving this out as a gift. My 3.5 rating remains because I wouldn't buy this for myself. Feels a bit flimsy, but it was up to the task of taking a few great pics at many angles. My only complaint was that it didn't seem capable of taking pictures straight up in the sky. I was photographing the Northern Lights, and it would have been nice. Also, the retaining kit snapped a piece of plastic, but I have to stress that this may have been my fault, as I was over 100 miles into the Arctic when it happened, and I hadn't checked the temperature rating of the product.
