It is nice and thick, rolls out and up nicely, and is not too heavy to take places. I usually change my mat every year or so, and this one does not wear out at all in that time. My most recent one went 16 months and only lost some of its stick on the back (I practice 3 - 4X a week on a cotton rug on a hardwood floor). The colors stay vibrant and the cushion stays nice. This is the real deal and for $35 , now that's a great deal. Many of the pretty prints that I looked at were in the $80-$100 range. The back of this mat is a beautiful bright turquoise.
