Review: Great quality knives although I wouldn’t recommend washing them in the dishwasher. - Bought the chef’s and pairing knife together after I had the mid size knife for about 7 years of heavy daily use. Sadly the other day while I was slicing some thick cheese the plastic section where the blade goes in to the handle snapped causing the blade to come out. Although on the package there is written that is safe to wash these knives in the dishwasher I think the main reason why the plastic section of the handle broke is because it crystallised over the years due to the high dishwasher water temperature eventually causing failure. Considering the knife was used heavily as my favourite knife on a daily basis, I don’t expect stuff to last forever and I happily bought another two knives and I rate them 5 out of 5 for price, quality and sharpness.

**Q: Hi, is this knife made in England?**
A: Hi,
Thanks for your question.
This range of ceramic knives, like all ceramic knives, isn't made in England. We don't have the manufacturing techniques set up in England for this production. If you require knives made in England then please check out our 'Sheffield Made' ranges. We have 5 ranges that are made in our factory in the UK, however none of them are ceramic. The knives made in our own factory are of exceptional quality and I'm sure anyone would be very pleased with them.

**Q: Is this good for cutting meat?**
A: As a non-meat eater, I could not say - BUT when it took it out of the protective sheath-I badly cut my finger as it is so sharp; it cuts even tough old vegetables into thin slivers. I find it was a good buy, and I would buy one again if need be.

**Q: How thick is the blade? Hopefully 2cm.**

It is 2mm thick at the top of the blade. It's width is 35mm (3.5cm) from top to bottom and is 100mm (10cm) long.

**Q: Presumably it will get blunt - how do you sharpen it please ?**
A: Hi, Ceramic blades stay sharp for much longer than steel blades. However, here are three ways to sharpen a ceramic knife:
1. Diamond sharpening stone: A diamond sharpening stone is a flat grinding stone (similar to a whetstone) with grit diamond embedded inside of it. These special knife sharpeners are perfect for sharpening a ceramic knife.
2. Automatic ceramic knife sharpener: Using an electric knife sharpener to sharpen your knives will allow you to simply to swipe your knife through the sharpener once, and it will emerge sharp. 
3. Diamond file: Sharpening your ceramic knife with a diamond file is a little trickier and requires a knife rest, but it is effective and fast.
These can all be done at home.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great knife, buying again after breaking the first

I ordered this knife and the 10cm paring knife as a present for my dad so haven't actually used it yet. However he bought this exact knife a couple of years ago and it was amazing, super sharp, it can accurately cut really thin slices of cheese/tomato/chorizo, anything really, it remained the best knife we had even years after we got it and consistently outperformed our steel knives even after they had just been sharpened! It got used daily for at least two/three years until I snapped it crushing Garlic (something it tells you not to do in the care instructions but I did several times with no problem (until it broke😂)) I know snapping blades is a common problem with ceramic knives, especially the smaller ones, but this one will last if you treat it correctly. Would definitely recommend!
