## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has the label changed? The one I received says Dry Weather rather than the Dry* Lube**
A: The dry lube is essentially for dry weather.  My understanding is that it is wax-based which keeps dirt off the chain in dry conditions.  If you ride in the rain, there is a wet lube and so called hydrodynamic which gives a “ridiculous” protection rating - I’m not sure if that’s good or bad (or just bad marketing :)   Overall, I’m happy with it.

**Q: Can i use any degreaser to clean my chain prior to application? Muc offs drivechain cleaner is kind of pricey...**
A: I typically use Simple Green mixed a bit strong, let it sit for a bit, agitate, sit again, agitate again. Blast with water. Let dry, apply. It all depends how often you ride, as well as how dirty it gets. I try to do mine every 2 months or 3 with the deep cleaning. Here in Arizona, we get a lot of fine dust that does not build up quickly. That said, I have over 10k miles on my chain, all the cog teeth look new, as well as the chain stretch is only .5. So, keep your gear clean. Again, in between cleanings, I will add the Muc, ride, then wipe it down. Seems to keep a lot of the gunk from accumulating!

**Q: Will this work for replacing pedals ? A replacement for grease?**
A: Chain lube like this is too thin a lubricant for pedals, headsets, bearings etc. Mechanics recommend bike-specific grease, for example HPG-I by Park Tool. There are of course many equivalents for that kind of a job. You just don’t want the pedals and the cranks to seize, to corrode into one piece of metal. That’s the bottom line. You always want to be able to remove and replace pedals at will.

**Q: Can I just apply this to my bike chain without washing the chain everytime?**
A: If wax lube is applied to a dirty chain the grease, grit & particles the wax lube is intended to keep out will be trapped in. Zero Friction Cycles on YT explains it in detail & also recommends Super Secret Chain wax.

This is only an initial review, since I haven't even taken a ride yet since lubing my chain with this stuff but these are my first impressions. After washing my bike and chain, I proceded to lube the chain according to my experience, which is contrary to the instructions, which mention lubing every part of the chain, when in actuality, all you need to lube are the rollers from the top of the chain. Anyway, after finishing and wiping off the excess, I noticed something special right away. I have never gotten my chain spotless after de-greasing, and after lubing with another brand of lube, I would always get more grit and dirt on the cloth I used to wipe off the excess immediately, but with this product, that wasn't the case. It's quite viscous but only more so than the watery lube I would use before. I only dabbed a drop for each roller in my chain and made sure to get each one and rotate the chain and cassette. But while I held the cloth under the chain to get the excess off, all I got was lube and no extra dirt. This shows me what it's like to deal with a quality product and although Muc-Off is everywhere you deal with cycling, they've seemed to have earned their reputation. And while $10 seems like a lot for a bottle of lube, the amount I actually used was minuscule and this will last a good long while. The opaque bottle will even keep light from getting in and drying out the lube, which has happened to me in the past with the other brand I have used in the past. But no more. Muc-Off has won themselves another customer and I can't wait to try out more of their products. Best thing about this lube is the scent. They didn't have to add any scent to this lube and it still would have been great, but details like these make me smile. Give this a try, you won't be disappointed!
