This is one of the knoves that I purchased, based largely on the reviews. There were not a lot of reviews, but they were very positive. When the knife first arrived I was pleased with it, and I actually used it a bit before passing it on to my Dad. It has a nice feel and the blade was well balanced and quite sharp.Unfortunately, only a couple of months later I was in my Dad's kitchen and when I used this paring knife it was not very sharp at all. Though it has a nice feel, I was not able to bring the balde back to a razor edge. My father was a professional chef for over 25 years, and many ofhte other knives he uses daily continue to keep a very sharp edge and he maintains them all very well. This was a little bit of a disappointment.I was hoping that the Schmidt Brothers Cutlery knife would be a bargain and that the knife would outperform my expectations for a knife that was reasonablly priced. I won't say that it is a bad knife, but it is worth about what I paid. I rarely buy knives but after I bought a traditional set and ended up needing one extra sharp knife, I decided upon this one. It's been about 4 months now and it's still super sharp. I use this to cut everything from vegetables to meat. The down tip makes it super easy to cut when I press on the top.
