Since helmets have to be replaced periodically and can degrade in storage, I didn't see a point in buying an expensive one for shows just to have it sit around most of the time. I needed something nice but not too expensive. I also have a large oval head and knew from past experience that finding a good fit would probably take some trial and error. I tried this and two other brands Trauma Void and One K. I found the Trauma Void to be far too round for my head with a huge chinstrap, but otherwise it seemed pretty nice. It did have a second liner, but it didn't really improve the fit much. I was able to order the One K defender in oval XL, and it is a beautiful helmet. It fit well, but for me personally seemed a little top heavy and maybe not as low profile as I wanted. The IRH 4G was perfect. Even though it doesn't come in an oval size, it fit me very comfortably, and it's profile was more flattering. It fits snuggly without digging in or leaving marks on my forehead. With the thinner liner, it fits my hair up if needed, it feels great on and looks classy. It has nice styling without being over the top flashy, so it'll be great for Hunter shows. If you're in doubt, try a few and see which is most flattering. Every head and face is different. This one is perfect for me. I have been riding less than a year and I’m always worried about falls or something happening. Yesterday I took my first pretty good spill. Went right over the front of the horse and hit the back of my head on the floor of the arena. I felt like this helmet gave me peace of mind and protected my head well. It’s lightweight and looks beautiful. I’m glad I went with this.
