You need to gently spread the top rim to accommodate each glass divider. After the divider is slid down all the way, push it down ever so slightly, and the rim of the tank will snap back into place.Do NOT attempt this with substrate already in the tank, otherwise you will have problems as another reviewer mentioned, where the glass sticks up above the rim. After finding these here I ordered four sets for all my tanks. They fit perfectly and even sit slightly higher than the plastic interior rim of the tank, which means the glass lid sits on top with a slight gap between it and the rim.
