I still use it and it works great. Also, I was putting Moroccan oil in my hair then using the Herstyler. I noticed that combination was damaging my hair and staining the ceramic plate. It gave the plate a rusty burnt color. I stopped using the oil and my hair has been damage free since. Keeping the iron on a medium temperature setting also helps prevent damage. The higher the temperature the faster your hair sets, but could cause damage. Do not redo a piece of hair several times. One time should be enough on the piece of hair you are styling. You can touch it up briefly a second time, but I do not recommend more than that. I only use the Herstyler to create waves and curls, not to straighten my hair. I do not know how it would work to straighten. I finally recently broke down and bought a new one. It was even cheaper this time around on desertcart! It's light enough and small enough to travel with. I still have my old one as a back up and travel one. What more could a woman want? I love that after years of curling irons making curls in my hair that only last 2 hours, is over!
