## Description

Dickinson Marine, Newport Solid Fuel (Wood) Heater 00-NEWSF is a small, solid fuel heater. Designed for casual use but built of stainless steel for years of service. It is ideal for boats 20-25 ft in length and tiny homes or fishing huts. The Newport Solid Fuel (Wood) Heater burns one to two 1" thick wood or presto log, a handful of charcoal briquettes or coal. Removable ash drawer and damper control. Combustion options for this appliance are wood, charcoal briquettes or similar solid fuels that can be burned. Slow burning fuels are recommended. Care must be taken not to overfill the combustion chamber as this can damage the heater. The heater is rated for approximately 8000 btuÍs. This will be equal to a small handful of briquettes, 1 or 2 slices of presto logs at 1" thick or equivalent sizing for wood or other solid fuels. Certain brands of engineered firewood can burn with an enhanced level of heat so caution must be used. Refrain from burning any manufactured wood with an artificially increased btu rating. When using engineered firewood, cleaning of the firebox and exhaust chimney may be required. Requires 3" diameter chimney parts Minimum 4ft of chimney is required, a 6ft straight run with no elbows work best Chimneys 6ft or longer we highly recommend a barometric damper Permanent fresh air vent needed in area of the unit Decorative laser cut door Creates a dry heat to dry out moisture inside the vessel Removable ash drawer for easy cleaning & damper control Increasingly used as a wood stove / heater in non-marine applications such as tiny homes. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have a well-insulated, fiberglass-shelled micro-motorhome (7'x8'x10'). I will be camping at up to -40F. Is this stove adequate for Alaskan winters?**
A: Typical winter minimum temperatures in Homer are in the teens, according to Google. I don't think this little stove is at all suitable for temperatures of -40F, based on my experience with it in the San Francisco Bay Area.

**Q: Can this stove burn pellets?**
A: They say it will. A pellet stove burns a little at a time and does a good job. It would be better to burn a press log in this stove and more economical.

**Q: What is the average burn time on a full load of wood? thank you for your time!**
A: Wood is not easy to tell, depends on the wood. Charcoal is a much better choice.

**Q: Has anyone adapted this for use with type B or similar double wall exhaust flue pipe? Thanks.**
A: I found that I was not able to use the stove in Cabin application, no 45s allowed and too long of pipe to go out the roof. So no, the answer to your question. They only want you to use their pipe. I had someone that was going to make adaptions but when they reviewed it refused to install the stove. I returned it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice product! only one issue
*by R***. on July 30, 2018*

I am only giving four star because I notice on the top of the stove where the flue fitting is held with two phillips screws I continually see flame when the fire is burning? I purchased the stove two weeks ago and the install in my converted cargo trailer was quite easy, being over cautious of wood stoves I have used double corrugated steel panels spaced 1" away from the walls and put a 12x12 heat shield on the ceiling with 1" spacers. I have check the temperature all around the stove and chimney with a laser thermometer and find no area getting to hot. Also have a fan pointed at the ceiling that I switch on to get the warm air flowing. Like I say the only issue I have is the one described above and that does allow some smoke to escape into the room, I am hoping the Dickinson reads this review and will offer some suggestion? I was thinking of sealing it with exhaust pipe tape but really do not want to mess up the nice look of the stove. UPDATE: After a few weeks of using the stove I am happy with the heat it puts out, a few small pieces of firewood and 10 minutes later my converted cargo trailer is toasty warm. My only complaint is that even after Dickinson replaced the piece that fits on the top of the stove to the stove pipe I still get a little smoke coming into the trailer. I have attached a photo of the one they replaced, you will notice it is just spot-welded and leaves gaps for smoke to come through. The new one I received is a little better but is still spot welded and allows some smoke to come to the room. It would seem that if they welded the whole thing together it would solve the issue, I don't understand why they don't??? I have four feet of stove pipe and a good draft so that is not the issue.
