The suction cup smells like rubber, but it's simple to remove (remove the holding nut, draw out the bolt, and pull off the cup. Then you use use the stainless screw clamp instead. The entire thing breaks apart and can be machine washed. It even includes a spare white bushing. This company knows what they are doing and it shows. We like the quality for the price, stability, ease of assembly and use, easy to clean. Ground pork for meatballs and the grind was perfect. Will be trying it to make chorizo with the sausage attachments. Minor issues are that the separate plastic filling tray slides around, and there were no assembly instructions, though if I had paid attention I would have known how to reassemble after washing. I did find instruction on line.
