And how did the parrot come to have an injured foot?These questions intrigue Mason so much, he takes on a case he doesn’t want. But what starts out as a divorce case quickly becomes a murder case — and Mason has a challenge that requires all his tricks and brainpower. There’s so much evidence against the attractive young Rita, most lawyers would despair of success.The neighborhood of the crime is full of avid busybodies who don’t miss a thing. But a second murder gives Mason a fresh perspective. And his solution is a surprise.Throughout his investigation, Mason is under pressure from his lovely secretary Della Street to find the murderer fast. He’s promised her a trip around the world, and the ship sails very soon. The push-pull between them is amusing.This is a good example of Perry Mason mysteries published in the 1930s — maybe not the very best, but pretty good.
