It's better to use it less than what the timing chart tells you. You can always buy another and try again in a couple of weeks - but if you leave it on too long, it'll fry your hair bad and it'll take a month to get it normal again. The shortest total timing in the instructions is about 16 minutes. Don't do that with Caucasian hair! I learned the hard way, last time left it in about 5 minutes and it came out perfect!!!
