I don't need carbon fiber, and I'm not trying to color match to teak! These are a good value, simple, very solid. A 1/4" stainless bolt is used for the sheave instead of a bearing. Likewise on the swivel, a 1/4" stainless bolt is used.Picture below shows 3/8" double braid.One pulley bound when I recieved it. There was a piece of gravel stuck inside and when I removed it - worked fine. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Close enough *by H***D on Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2020* These blocks are the closest thing I could find to suit my needs -- I wanted to make my own "Block & Tackle". Unfortunately, there are NO affordable blocks that have the 2nd Attachment Point that is needed to tie off the other end of the rope. So, we are forced to anchor that end of the rope to the same Anchor Point that the top Block is attached to. It works, but is an UN-necessary extra step.I had to OIL the pulleys -- they Squeak -- bone dry. I bought an Amarine 1/2" Nylon Double-Braid rope, and it fits the pulleys perfectly. That rope is soft & pliable, & has a "Safe Working Load" of 960 Lbs -- I won't be lifting anything half as heavy as that. A 35-foot length of rope gives about 7-8 feet of vertical lift, and that should handle most of my needs.To compute the force required to lift 960 Lbs, divide 960 by 4 = 240 Lbs. Then add 10% of 960 = 96 Lbs to estimate Friction. So, 240 + 96 = about 350 Lbs of force to lift 960 Lbs.
