It generates the desirable effect to drive (or undriven) bolts and screws easier than a traditional drill driver but it demands very high mechanical efforts on bits.1/4-inch hex chunk is typical for impact drivers but it is not true all hex chunk bit are prepared for impact drivers. There is a lot of them simply will be destroyed due to excessive material fatigue when submitted to impact driver use. Be careful when selecting your impact driver bits.These particular bits are rated for impact driver. I have had them for one year but I am not a professional user for them so I have used them just less than ten times and they are yet performing great. I have been using it for several weeks with my impact gun but stopped a few days ago because I really like it and didn't want to break it. I did not realize it is actually for an impact wrench untell I just looked at it here. So good now I can go back to using it all the time.When you push straight in with it it stays ridged, wont swivel but when you need to get into a tight spot it lets the socket swivel. Even if it only last a little wile, and I have no reason to think it wont last, it is worth it. I have swivel sockets but they always swivel this is ready for straight or swivel and it does them both good. I've got a 1/2" impact wrench that works great for bigger jobs and I can't see getting out my 1/4" subcompact to use with 1/2" drive sockets. Just the same, for $4 I think it's worth having in my bag just in case the need arises. Quality is excellent as you'd expect from Makita.
