Nearly all staple-less staplers make a not-insignificant hole in your paper and then push the tab through and tuck it under a fold to create a no-metal connection. However, it's punched a pretty fair sized hole to make that tab. I saw this 'crinkle' stapler and thought this was going to do the trick. The DESIGN is there...the metal dies inside this heavy stapler make a nice set of 'waffle' crinkles between pages, and if they fixed their one fatal flaw, I think this thing would be great but as mentioned...fatal flaw. The crinkles are made on the very edge of the papers. I tried pushing the stack of (no more than 5) sheets deep into the stapler as just putting it into the stapler make little waffle marks right along the paper edge...pretty much useless...but as far into the unit as I could push them made the crinkles only about 1/16th (yes, sixteenth...okay, I'll be nice...one was maybe all of 3/32) of an inch past the edge. Most of the time, the crinkles were even closer to the edge, right on the edge or missed the paper all together. They show turning the paper sideways and pushing just the corner of the stack into the stapler, but that also just didn't work. NOTE: All of the instructions are in Japanese, but Google Translate was able to show me what it said, and there was nothing there indicating I was suffering User Error here... To FIX their design, the stapler should allow the paper stack to be pushed in MUCH further, and maybe with an option to pull it back out a bit and with a clear window showing you just WHERE the dies would cut the crinkles, but at a minimum, you need to be more than ¼" past the edge to be useful. This unit just failed. I tried on quite a few sheets of paper thinking maybe it's user error, but nope...it's a design flaw in this Japanese heavy die-cutting stapler, and I really have to think they didn't do much testing or they have some different kind of paper...or maybe just two sheets (instead of my testing of 4 and 5) would allow you to truly shove them deeper into his mouth, but if I'm going to staple paper, I'd really expect to be able to do more than 2. This stapler is a joke. It’s miniature version and it won’t even staple two pages. You would need the bigger one! **Q: What will happen if I staple a thick paper. Does it will damage it?????** A: It will staple 5-6 regular sheets of paper, not real thick paper. **Q: What if I try to staple a thick paper then it will damage the stapler???** A: Not in my experience. If the stack of papers is too thick, it won't fit. However, I don't think a thicker cardstock will be effectively stapled by this stapler, which embosses the sheets together. The crimping isn't as strong or effective as a real staple, but works more as a paper clip...Hope that helps! **Q: Has anyone used this to make a folder pocket for their planner? To seal/bind the edges of plastic sheets together?** A: I don't think the bind is strong enough to use for securing a pocket....unless you don't plan to remove items from the folder pocket. No staples just a small crimp that you can barely see, works great for keeping my bills and stuff organized. Easy to separate with no damage to paper.
