Wish this had more cfm's. It's a good sturdy all metal fan but disappointed the air it puts out. Needing another fan and just ordered a 4650 cfm for less $. Hoping it will move more air. It seems like every year things are made cheaper and cheaper. **Q: Are the fans noisy ?** A: I know this is an old question but most of these replies stating it’s “so loud” is just ridiculous. It’s all subjective. The “noise” is to be expected. The description says, “high velocity”... you can’t have a lot of air movement without noise. If you don’t like noise, buy a weaker fan. With that said, I have a different brand floor fan that looks very similar to this, and at its highest speed, it is much louder than this fan... but it also pushes more air than the Lasko. Let’s get real people. Do you want a powerful fan or do you want a quiet fan? If you can’t deal with noise, get a smaller fan and run it on low speed. This 20” Lasko fan is considerably “quiet” for its size. But as I said above, it is not as powerful as a another fan of the same size... which is why it is considerably more quiet. With that said... the amount of “noise” to be perceived is subjective. One person may have had weaker smaller fans their whole life... which in this case, this fan may seem “noisy” to them. I personally have been around many different fans, loud ones, small weak ones, huge powerful ones... plus my understanding of noise in relation to airflow may be better than someone who just thinks about sound as a negative. So, to better elaborate one someone’s explanation to this question. Low speed is tolerable in a standard size living area while watching TV... on a day which is about mid to high 70’s. Medium speed is tolerable in the same environment on a day which is in the low to mid 80’s. The sound on high speed is tolerable in the same exact environment on a day which is above 85 degrees. **Q: Do you have to oil the motor now and then?** A: This fan uses a brushless motor design and bushings for the motor. I have one that I turn on every night before bed and let run for 8 hours or so daily. I think we are looking at possibly 5k hours if operation so far. As far as maintenance on the unit every so often you have to blow the dust off the unit to keep the unit from over heating, and I have once lubricated the bushings with grease due to vibrations/ noise while running. Because the motor is brushless the only wear item is the motor bushings etc. From what I understand brushless motors have a lifespan of around 10k hours... **Q: can you clean the blades?** A: It is NOT what I'd call "easy" to clean. Yes, the front cover comes off without any tools, but you're gonna have to get some wet rags behind the blades, because they're not coming off too easy. And the rear grill also doesn't come off. Compared to my Honeywell fan, where I can completely remove front AND rear grill along with the blades (zero tools) and spray them off in the shower and have them looking 100% brand new in all of 2 minutes, this fan sucks to clean. Yes, you get a more power in the Lasko, but cleaning stinks.... ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solid, quality fan *by K***K on August 14, 2013* I've had this fan for a couple months now and I'm very pleased with it. I didn't want to just get a cheap plastic fan (I've had plenty of those). So I spent a little more money and so far am happy I did. Hopefully this fan will last a few years, making it a solid investment. It is all metal, with metal blades.This fan does have the capacity to be mounted on the wall, but I have not done that so I can't review that aspect of the product.I just have my fan on the floor and that's good enough for me. I have a room in my home that was not getting cool enough this summer. The central A/C vent in that room blows out cool air, but it's just not enough to accommodate the size of the room. So I purchased this fan to see if it would help. I placed the fan on the opposite end of the room from where the A/C vent is, so that the fan is blowing toward the A/C vent. It works wonderfully. This is a powerful fan and has tremendous velocity at the lowest setting (it has low-med-high settings). I usually just run it on low and it keeps my room cool. There were a few days when it was hotter and more humid outside, and the room just wasn't getting cool enough for me, so I turned the fan up on high and that did the trick.Because this is a heavy-duty, high-velocity fan, I suppose it is a bit loud even on the lowest setting. But I'm one of those people who likes the sound of a fan so it's hard for me to comment on this aspect. It is noticeably louder if you increase the setting. I suppose some people might think that the high setting sounds a bit like a jet engine. But again, I'm just trying to be as objective as I can since the noise this fan produces doesn't bother me one bit, even on high. For me, the sound of this fan is very relaxing. In its defense, it is a very smooth sound. There is no annoying rattling or vibrating or anything like that - those type of noises DO bother me. This is just a nice, smooth fan sound that happens to be loud because it is pushing the air so forcefully. Some people might find this helpful if they want to block out outside noises, particularly if they work at night and have to try to sleep during the day. If you are one of those people, this is an excellent fan to serve your purpose. There are rubber feet on the bottom which help prevent vibration-type noise, and also helps keep the fan from sliding around - although it is so solid that it probably wouldn't slide anyway, except possibly on the highest setting. This fan is quite a bit heavier than a plastic fan, but I see that as a good thing. That's what I wanted - a solid, sturdy fan as opposed to a lightweight, flimsy plastic thing. You don't have to worry about accidentally tipping it over.I recommend this this product. It is MUCH more powerful than a cheap, plastic fan. Very solid, all-metal construction. High velocity pushes much more air and does a much better job of cooling a room. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Quality & Functionality *by J***S on August 27, 2025* This is a well-made fan of mostly metal. It is sturdy and it generates excellent airflow. It doesn't rattle or make excessive noise. It creates a nice white noise when we sleep. It keeps us cool during the warmer months (we don't have A/C, and during the winter it helps push the heat up from the wood burning stove in the basement. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Fan 24x7x365 for 5 and 1/2 years never had an Issue *by J***J on September 16, 2025* Bought this to circulate air throughout my home. This unit ran 24 hrs a day,7 days a week for 5 and 1/2 years without an issue. (Note our first one by Lasko ran 6 years no issue, same unit)On low it is very quiet. Up on high you will hear it. It moves a lot of air and keep the house air circulating reducing electric and heating bills while ensuring no cold or hot spots.Simple maintenance: wipe down the outside cage as needed. Unplug remove the outside cage and wipe down the blades every two to three months.- Value: Ran a long time for the money- Durability is Solid: 5 plus years running all the time- Silver and Black not the prettiest things but easy to clean looks ok and works wellI recommend and will be buying my third one.
