The one line of stitching makes the edge look beveled and looks like it would come out very quickly when washed, then the material would fray. I was sad as its the perfect color ivory for my taffeta dress but the stitching just looks loose. I will say the seller reached out to me and offered to send me another shawl in taffeta to see if I liked it better and my experience with them has been positive. This products picture portrays a more elegant product and the $12.99 looks less than.
