Therefore, I now buy them only online when they are available. This is one of the few ballpoint pens that I trust not to smear. That said, I don't know how old these pens are because I don't think this pen is available on the Pilot website anymore. I have bought the fine point blue, fine point black, medium point blue, medium point black and purple and I have been pleased. I have tried the same ones you mention and have had the same results with the additional little globs of ink that sometimes come out when writing with them, I have not found globs of ink from the Retractable Pen yet. The pen cited above is one that I will buy when it is available.
