The locking blade is a little over 3 inches not quite 3 1/4 inches. I have carried this style make and model for over 40 years . I have cut deer down to boneless pieces using only in a pinch. This is a nice locking single blade knife that keeps an edge and can be sharpened quickly. I recommend this knife to hunters and outdoor workers. I could not tell you how many time I was asked to borrow my knife. **Q: does this say china on the blade?** A: on one side near hinge 1940T on other side near hinge is SCHRADE on the handle is printed OLD TIMER and on the blade release it has PRESS printed I have carried this style for 40+ years nice all around knife keeps a good edge **Q: Is this really a Schrade? Mine just says Stainless steel** A: Unfortunately Schrade's manufacturing was moved from the U.S. to China. It's nicely made but the stainless steel blade isn't nearly as good as the U.S. made carbon steel blades. **Q: Country of origin should not be United States?** A: Hi, it's not. It’s of the same quality and craftsmanship that one would come to expect from a quality brand such as Old Timer. I’m extremely pleased with my purchase, it’s top notch quality, and very well made with a blade that sharpens easily, but retains the edge since it’s made of high carbon stainless steel. In fact, this Old Timer knife replaces a Case knife that I threw in the garbage bin due to its quality and craftsmanship which was dismal at best as the blade wouldn’t stay locked in place.
