The solar cell's maximum (absolute maximum, 100% efficiency and unobstructed engagement) charge rare is 180 mA/hr. At 10,000 mA, you're talking 55 hours, 38 minutes of direct, high intensity, unobstructed and optimized light. Considering the average North American summer day produced 7.5 hours like this, with a total of 15.5 hours of any light...you're talking 2 to 3 weeks to charge the piece of crap. **Q: How long does it take to be fully charged by sunlight?** A: The quoted 180mA/hr is way too low to be useful. There is another model that is barely more expensive and since it has more solar cell surface area, they say it charges from sunlight at 6A/hr (which is 6000mA/hr): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09L198HC2/ That's 33 times faster. Even if you think you would never need to charge it via sunlight, I'd go with the one that is 33X faster just in case of an emergency. Then at least you would have the option. As people have pointed out, you won't get the maximum charging rate out of any solar cell unless it is in intense, direct sunlight, with the light hitting the panel at 90 degrees. Usually that will not be the case. So let's say you are getting 50% of the maximum rate. That's 90mA/hr from this model, and 3A/hr (equal to 3000mA/hr) from the other model. The other model is still 33 times faster, and always will be, assuming they are both in the same lighting conditions. **Q: Have yet to see any solar battery pack this size actually charge to full in bright sunlight. Can owners confirm it charges to full and how long?** A: I have never let my power pack discharge to empty. My power pack has had 3 lights lit and it took 2 weeks before the 4th light became solid. The power pack is advertised as the solar panel is only meant to charge the power pack in an emergency. **Q: Does the solar panel actually work or just for decoration? How do I know if it's charging the internal battery?** A: There are 5 little blue lights to show it's charging. I'm hoping the solar will be a plus. I will say this do NOT just leave this in the sun say in your car or by a window. Regardless if the solar charging, it is still a battery and you may not want the battery to get super hot or it can cause damage. The solar part it does charge but I cannot expect it to charge to full. It is definitely great to have if you are hiking and just need a little extra power. There is a solar light indicator as shown on the picture that is a green light. It is a bit water resistant but it is definitely not something you want to drop into the water. It does have a type C plug that you can use to charge the device. The USB ports as well as the wireless does not support fast charging. The wireless charging from what I can tell works with most cases which is good and the USB ports are covered by a silicone cover if you happen to be walking through the rain. Again it is water resistant but not water proof. There is a nice hook you can use to hook to your backpack or belt so it may be in direct sunlight and get charging. Be aware that any light will cause the charging light to turn on. The hook does come with a compass which can easily be screwed up by any magnet so use with caution. The wireless charging pad does have rubber stoppers to keep the device from sliding off of it. The overall charge time will vary based on whether you are using your phone or the number of devices. It can charge up to three devices (one needing to be via wireless). I would say on average it can charge most phone within three hours with no use. There are rubber protection on the side so if you happen to drop it from a small distant the battery will be fine. The battery does get warm when it is in use so make sure you take precautions if you are using this in your pocket. The flash light has duel lightning which is still a bit weak sadly than most other LED battery backs that I have seen. It does give a good lighting but I feel with one light you get better performance. The type C cable that comes with the battery is fairly long but a bit cheap for my liking but I just use my own. Overall I think this device is a great thing to have if you are on the go a lot. It is resilient and pretty good amount of battery to keep your devices charged. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good battery - doesn't particularly charge in the sun *by on Reviewed in the United States June 16, 2026* I should preface by saying I haven't fully tested this battery in a location where there was lots of sun and no outlets. It says in the instructions that it's going to charge better with an outlet and the provided cable, which is a high speed charger. Still takes a few hours to charge, but lasts for longer than it takes to charge. It's light weight and easy to switch between charging and doing the charging.The primary reason this isn't 5 stars is because the solar power doesn't charge very fast at all. Again, I haven't tested it in the wild, but I suspect I would definitely run out of power relying solely on solar power.
