## Description

Stauber Best Sock/Shoe Horn is the quickest easiest way to put on socks and shoes!

Review: This device works if you learn how it works and then follow a few tips - I purchased this sockadoodle to help me put on embolism stockings after my first hip replacement. I never mastered it at that time, regretted buying it, and put it in a closet to gather dust. For that surgery, my husband had a daily wrestling match getting those stretchy stockings onto my legs. Eight months later, I had my second hip replacement. Six days after my surgery, my husband’s morning wrestling match with the socks and my legs was getting a bit intense and I thought I should give this thing one last ditch effort to see if I could get it to work. That morning was yesterday, and I got it to work! Used it again today, no problems. Like riding a bike. It’s a lifesaver for me and for my husband. I’ll be using it for the rest of this post-surgery month of my embolism stocking wear. A few things of note/tips: 1- it’s plastic, yes. It’s the hard-but-bendy, shiny and smooth kind of plastic. (You will understand what I mean when you get it). At first, you’re going to think it feels like a cheap piece of junk. That’s ok (I did, too) but there’s very good functional reasons why this type of plastic is used: • It’s SHINY AND SMOOTH to HELP your stockings SLIDE better. (If you find your calf sticks to the shiny smooth plastic, perhaps try a little moisture-absorbing powder on your foot/legs first, before inserting your foot and pulling up your stocking.) • It’s BENDY not out of cheapness but because it NEEDS to be FLEXIBLE where you put the sock on. Try putting the embolism stocking on it, and you will understand what I mean. It flexes, and that helps you get your embolism stocking on it while keeping the foot reservoir WIDE enough to allow your foot into it. 2- It is hard to grip the handle well while putting the sock on, because of the concave handle. This is also BY DESIGN. When used with success, that crevice (that makes it a bit hard to hold while putting the sock on) will ASSIST YOU in GETTING your sock on by providing a concave sliding place for your heel to fit nicely into, while you are sliding the sock on. 3- The handle, again: It is hard to hold the handle when you are setting up your stocking on it. The BEST WAY I have found that to do this is to grip the handle end in between my thighs/knees, holding it steady . Then, I can put the sock on it. 4. You have to get your foot in a specific position, and to have proper leverage, in order to be able to accurately get your compression sock on. Pay attention to where the heel is when you are putting it on this thing, and also pay attention to how your foot, when in the thing, lines up with the sock and where the heel of the sock is going to fall. As for the leverage, I use this thing on my bed which is pretty high and my feet don’t touch the ground, so that gives me the leverage I need to be able to use this thing and line it up correctly with my foot so that the sock anatomy of my compression sock lines up with my foot and leg. The design? It LOOKS and feels clunky. It may be, but everything iaspect has been considered for how it helps the product perform, so looks don’t matter when it comes to this thing. The fact it, IT WORKS. I can get my stockings on BY MYSELF. IT WORKS once you figure it out!! Just know that it takes some practice to learn how ultimately use it. Also it’s not the most intuitive thing by simply looking at it. Solo please DO WATCH VIDEOS and practice. And, know that it’s tricky to get your foot into place correctly. You may need to try different angles (depending on your injury, age, physical ability) to perform the foot-into-sock action.Your foot and leg need to be at a certain specific angle in order for this thing to optimally perform (at least this is true in the case of embolism stockings, because the stocking has specific parts for your foot: top of foot, bottom of foot, heel, calf etc. There iis a learning curve. But it IS worth it to learn this procedure. Just stick with it. Super grateful for it and glad I finally figured this thing out!!! Once you get used to using it, worth so much more to me than the ten bucks I paid for it. It’s worth 30 mornings of avoiding hubby frustration. Try it.
Review: STAUBER sock aid didn’t work for me. - I have RA and limited knee movement with my arthritis issues. Unfortunately, this STAUBER sock aid did not work for me. I wear Dr. Motion knee-high compression socks and this sock aid won’t work for knee-high socks. Maybe it would be ok for shorter calf-high lengths. Also, it’s not flexible, which made it hard for me to use since I can’t bend my knees much. I really had high hopes for this device, but it didn’t suit my needs and I returned it. Maybe other people that are not as stiffly jointed as I am may have had better luck with it.

### ⭐⭐⭐ I like this because it is much easier than the narrow tube style with the cord !!!!
*by E***G on March 15, 2021*

I like this but it is inconvenient for me as a right handed person to use it on my left foot. It is nice and long. I read the directions before using it. I tried using the shoe horn section without any luck. I am a plus size woman and76 years old, wear a size 11 2E size woman's shoes so it could be a little wider.
