I use it submerged in water and it works very well. No rust upon drying out which is a big bonus. However, it is sturdy, but light weight, so it's convenient and desirable to use. The colors make it easy to find on your workbench, and the quick release adds to the convenience factor, as you only use the screw action to really clamp it down. I used it to drill about 90 holes for 6 different drill bit wall holders, and all of the holes came out consistent. Again, I'm not testing the squareness because they're just tool holders, but they all look consistently lined up. When I look down the line at the bits placed into the newly drilled holes, the only error I see is error of my own in marking the holes and center punching them accurately.
