So many people don't understand how little melatonin you actually need, so these 1mg tablets are perfect. Unflavored, no sugar and tiny. Review: If Taken Properly, You Can Use THIS Meletonin Long Term (see more below) - I have used melatonin and a treatment for insomnia for about 4 years now, nightly and source naturals for about 2 years. Typically melatonin is not recommended for long term, nightly use as people often experience a drop off where it no longer works, or periods of drowsiness. When talking to my doctor about my insomnia he recommended melatonin use but recommended I only take 1/3 of a mg because that's what is used in clinical trials. This has been the perfect amount to help me dose off, but not become drowsy, have too weird of dreams (okay they are still weird sometimes!), and get a drop off effect where it no longer works. Source Naturals 1 mg melatonin takes 3 pills to make a "serving" and so I take only 1 to get my 1/3 mg. It is the only melationin I have found at a reasonable price that has this dosing available without cutting (into unreliable fractions) a pill up in 6ths! I take this about 30 min before I go to sleep every night and make sure I am laying down in bed and not still moving around or I end up pushing through the sleepiness effect. I usually read something and eventually my eyes wander and can't focus and I'm ready for sleep. It's amazing. When I close my eyes I try to focus on the light behind my eyelids of any images my mind might be trying to create and focus on those rather than any word thoughts. It really helps drift me off. I used to get horrible insomnia about 3-4 nights a week, now I have it about once every 5-6 months! I regularly sleep through the night now! It took some time to get to that point, but my body has really relearned to produce its natural melatonin along with this natural supplement at the proper times. My insomnia was the kind where I both had a hard time falling to sleep (it would take hours) and would also then wake up in the middle of the night and be stuck awake. It's important with melatonin to try and take it at around the same time every night before going to sleep, rather than as something you take when you wake up in the middle of the night. It's a chemical we naturally produce when going to sleep and has to do with our internal sleep clock, so taking it is helping us set the our internal clock. Thanks! :) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This 1mg Melatonin tablet works better than a 3 or 5mg from the health-food stores *by R***E on July 19, 2023* I’m surprised by this product. As an RN for years, going between day and night shifts... I learned that melatonin 3mg would save the day for me and keep me in a good sleep cycle. Well, I’ve bought this brand for several years for my husband who requested 5 mg. I merely wanted 3mg. Well, about 3 bottles ago, I discovered this brand of 1mg. Just ONE milligram knocks me out and keeps me in a deep sleep for at least 5 hours. If I wake up... I take 1/4th of a tablet and go right back into a deep sleep. The only negative is... even with a fourth of a tablet... I need 4 to 5 more hours sleep OR I’ll be groggy for awhile after waking.
