Review: AWESOME SOUNDING HEADPHONES!!! - These are, hands down, the best sounding headphones for TV I’ve tried yet! I’ve tried other over the ear types and ear buds also but didn’t like them! Either they stopped working after only a short time or they just weren’t loud enough or clear enough or both!! This set comes with a great transmitter that you can set up next to the TV or whereever is best! It also acts as the charger for the headphones! There are multiple ways to connect the transmitter directly to your smart TV! I am currently using an analog connection using the 3.5 connection wire connected to the headphone port on my TV and it sounds crystal clear! Another option is a digital connection using the Optical Digital connection wire! Although I have a digital optical connection port on my TV, I went analog due to how easy it is to set up and no need for setting changes on the TV itself! Another connection option is using the old school RCA jacks for older TV models! Many customers say that the digital set up is the best because analog can cause static noises! Not so in my case! I have excellent, loud, clear sound using analog so I’ll stick with that set up! And I’m not using a high end, top name brand TV, like Sony or Vizeo or Samsung or LG! The price may seem a bit high considering all the cheaper brands available that claim to do the same thing but you won’t get the absolute, excellent, solid quality Sennheiser is known for! I’ve tried many of the cheaper brands and got nothing but disappointment and frustration! You end up spending more than these cost due to having to replace them so often! Review: 5-Stars from me! Excellent sound quality made by a famous audio equipment company. - Very impressed with the sound quality of the RS-175-U's. My purchase was an upgrade from Avantree HT-280 for comparison. After charging for 16 hours, I listened to different music on the Avantree HT-280's first, then I switched to the Sennheiser RS-175-U's. The sound quality was significantly better without engaging either the Surround Sound or the Bass Boost. (This would be considered a default FLAT setting for the RS-175-U.) The frequency response of the RS-175-U's is significantly better, much fuller and the whole frequency range is extended both in the low and high frequencies. I love having the selector buttons for Surround Sound or the Bass Boost on the Charging Station and also on the Headphones. The Volume Control on the headphones provides a wide range of control. The buttons on the headphones work well, are easy to get used to and have raised symbols on each of the four buttons allowing an unsighted person or a sighted person to feel each. The headphones are light weight and fit well on my normal size male head. There are plenty of strap adjustment positions to make fit smaller and larger head sizes. The ear pads fit well and are comfortable while wearing them for hours. I noticed that the music scores for the movie I am watching sounds great! I realized what I was missing sound wise. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: Using the optical audion connection i can hear regular tv but not my samsung hub apps like netflix?  any suggestions?**
A: We had the same issue using the digital connection from the Sennheiser base to the TV.  For a quick solution I went to the Analog plug and was able to listen to both ROKU and TV Satellite.  Next day, determined to be able to make it work (my TV: SONY BRAVIA, purchased in 2008),  I swapped the HDMI cables thinking maybe it's the port and that the digital component will only work with HDMI-1.  Well, I think the unplugging reloaded the HDMI ports and all is well.  I can use the digital plug and hear devices from both ports.  Lets hope it still works this evening.

**Q: Do you have to turn the headphone on manually like the old models(RS 170, RS 180)? Or does it turn itself on automatically when you pick it up from the charger?**
A: I have both the RS170 and the RS175.  The 170 requires you to press a switch on the base unit, and one on the earphone.  The 175 requires only a switch (4 seconds) on the earphone.  The earphone then turns on the base station.  Much easier than the 170.

**Q: My samsung tv is connected to my denon receiver for my room sound.  will the rs 175 connect without any problems?**
A: Connect the 175s to the digital audio "out" optical or the audio "out" on your samsung tv that way you can still use your suround sound for other people at the same time you use the 175s. If other people don't want to listen you can turn your suround sound completly off and you can just listen through your 175s.

**Q: I have a newer samsung smarttv in our bdrm, what else if anything do i need to listen to tv w/o disturbing my sleeping wife?**
A: The RS175 includes the optical cable that you will need. However, with my samsung tv it was necessary to go to the TV menu and change the sound setting - additional settings - audio format to "PCM". Then just use the switch on the back of the RS175 receiver to the "up" position when listening to the TV. You have the option of muting the TV or not.  These are awesome headphones!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely amazing sound, with some interesting glitches that I haven't figured out yet!

From my initial experience with these, they are absolutely phenomenal! The sound is crystal clear, and the bass is impressive, with 2 options to choose from; great bass, or extreme bass! The surround sound is a cool added bonus too, with two levels to choose from. Now the issues... First of all, I just want to say, the setup was super simple and awesome. I used the Digital Optical Audio Toslink Cable that was included in the box and connected it directly from my TV's Digital Optical Audio out to the Sennheiser dock for the best audio connection possible. I completed the setup process as per the quick start manual, and let it charge for half a day before trying them out. They worked great, and the sound exceeded all my expectations. Where the problem started was if I accidentally pushed the power button (while powered on) or even intentionally pushed it, like a typical button instead of holding it in to power it off, the audio would disappear yet the device would remain powered on. I know the manual says to hold it in for several seconds to power on or off, but sometimes you might accidentally push it, like when adjusting them on your head, or even when getting used to how they operate you might inadvertently push the button to power it off only to remember you must hold it in... I first thought that maybe it was a cool additional feature to mute the audio without powering them off, but pushing the button again did not bring the audio back, in fact no button would bring the audio back. The first time this happened I simply powered them off completely and then back on and I was good to go. However, twice since then I have accidentally pushed the button and lost audio, and powering it off and on wouldn't even bring it back. With my luck, this would usually happen just as I was beginning a movie or TV episode, and I was unable to get audio back for the duration of that use, having to resort to using my Bose sound system and watch the volume carefully. Each time I've encountered this issue I have ended up leaving the headset powered off on the charging dock, and the next day when I went to use them they worked just fine. I read completely through the operation manual several times trying to find anything on whether it was a mute function or used as something different aside from powering on or off, and I found absolutely nothing! In fact there was there was very little to practically nothing in all the papers included in the box on the operation of the device aside from how to set up the dock and connect to your TV, and insert the batteries in the headset and power it on. I figure they assume everything else is straight forward when it comes to buttons; bass, surround sound, and volume control. That being said, I would assume that the power button would be the same, not finding anything to say otherwise, its sole purpose is to power the headset on or off. I don't know why I have this problem, but I'm quite sure it isn't a dead battery because they are brand new, and two of the times it has happened I had just pulled them off of the charging dock with the green light indicating they were fully charged, and these are supposed to have quite an impressive battery life that I probably could never completely drain in a single day.. Other uses that I didn't bump the button or run into this problem, I would use them for up to six continuous hours, ruling out the battery as being the problem. All I can figure is that it could be a faulty pair?? Aside from this one issue, if I am careful to not push the button until I am done using them for that setting, then I don't have any problems... And as I mentioned before, the sound is awesome! I have not yet reached out to Sennheiser for support, but I intend to when I get around to it. For now, this has been my experience with these, and I do intend to update my review if and when I resolve this problem.
