TV series were growing up and could now enjoy more sophisticated plots and characters, so along came the hour-long The New Scooby-Doo Movies, and what sets them delightfully and hilariously apart is the marvelous lineup of celebrity guest stars - The Harlem Globetrotters, Dick Van Dyke, The Three Stooges, Jonathan Winters, Don Knotts, "Mama" Cass Elliot, and Laurel and Hardy, plus the participation of other animated action heroes like Batman and Robin and Speed Buggy. It's no mystery that you're in for a classic good time!

Review: Classic Cartoon - Love growing up watching Scooby Doo
Review: A fantastic DVD release in spite of one notable omission... - After months of procrastination I purchased this DVD several weeks ago. I already own a collection released previously titled "The Best of the All New Scooby Doo Movies" and so I was procrastinating whether or not to purchase those episodes again in addition to the recently added or purchase the other disc featuring the episodes that weren't part of "The Best of the All New Scooby Doo Movies" years earlier. I decided to just go ahead and purchase "The New Scooby Doo Movies- The (Almost) Complete Collection". I figured the older set has some age to it and these are brand new discs...so that's how I arrived at my decision. Now, due to my having the older release, I didn't watch the first disc right away. I watched Disc Two first and then Disc Four followed the next day with Disc Three and Disc One. I watched Disc Six last. It's the disc with the fewest episodes...but I'd seen the Mama Cass episode as well as Dick Van Dyke's episode on one of the video hosting sites a number of years ago...so, as you could tell, I was basing my choice of discs on which contained the most episodes I hadn't seen yet. As thousands upon thousands of people have already mentioned all over the internet the reason this DVD is titled incomplete is due to the episode guest starring The Addams Family not being included. Some suggest it's because of John Astin and that he didn't want the episode released but more than likely it has something to do with the estate of Charles Addams. In my view of all the episodes from this incarnation of the series that are brand new to DVD my favorite is "A Good Medium is Rare" guest starring Phyllis Diller. Call me corny but I love hearing that cackling laugh and there's a very funny one-liner she says as she's walking down a hallway in her house where portraits of her many ex-husbands are on display. She mentions that all of them were rich tycoons "all but husband number three..." and she proceeds to explain the reason why. The overall mystery of her episode deals with a plot to steal her diamonds. John Stephenson gives voice to her butler, Lucas. One of my favorite singers, Jerry Reed, guest stars in "The Phantom of the Country Music Hall". In that mystery the gang, first, has to try and find him. He's locked within a venue and the gang's only lead to his location is to follow the sound of his voice singing 'Pretty Mary Sunlight'. The real mystery is the disappearance of his guitar and the reason behind it. In "Sandy Duncan's Jekyll and Hyde" the gang get caught up in a mystery revolving around the production of a movie Sandy's attempting to shoot. Daphne gets embroiled in the mystery when she's talked into being a stunt double for Sandy...after which she's abducted by villains who think they've captured Sandy. In several episodes animated characters from other Hanna-Barbera cartoon shows guest star. "Weird Winds of Winona" feature the cast of Speed Buggy. In another episode the cast from Josie and the Pussycats show up to investigate a "Haunted Showboat". The Josie episode it's surreal given the history behind Scooby's origins. In the development stage of what became 'Scooby Doo, Where Are You?' in 1969 the original premise was for the teenagers to be part of a band who travel the country and stumble into mysteries along the way. This idea was brought to life in 'Josie and the Pussycats' instead. Casey Kasem, the voice of Shaggy in 'Scooby Doo', became the voice of the Pussycat's manager, Alexander Cabbot. The characters from the animated series, 'Jeannie', guest starred in the episode "A Mystery in Persia" in which Jeannie and her friends accompany Scooby and the gang and they become entangled in a tug of war for power in Persia/Iran between an heir and the complicated road to rule...but someone stands in his way from becoming the new ruler of the country...but it isn't the evil genie as you might suspect. Animated versions of iconic comedy duo, Laurel and Hardy, guest star in a mystery surrounding Big Foot located in the area near Mackinak Lodge. The snowed in, blizzard conditions force Scooby and the gang, along with Laurel and Hardy, to remain in a lodge with a local curse where guests at the lodge disappear without explanation. The overall mystery is pieced together throughout the episode...leading the gang to a junkyard filled with contemporary cars rather than relics....and they have to find out why there are so many recent model cars parked in a junkyard. All in all I loved the DVD. The omission of The Addams Family didn't diminish the entertainment I got from the episodes that are here. If legalities ever come to an agreement and that particular episode becomes available I don't think the company is going to re-release it again with The Addams Family intact...at least I don't think that would happen. I think if that episode is ever available for purchase it'll be offered as a stand alone episode that people can download onto their computer.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hilarious and Memorable

I thought it was nice to see certain episodes that I grew up watching, and that my parents grew up watching as well. It's hilarious and it's a good collection to own.
