Excellent for tarts, pies, jam, wine, forcing etc. and very easy to grow in any odd corner of the garden. Cultivation Sow the seed From february - April individually ¼in deep in 7.5cm (3in) pots of a free draining seed compost. Keep the compost moist but not over wet until germinated which can take between 21-40 days at 20-25C. Once germinated start to lower the temperature and then move to a cold frame before planting out in late spring. When planting out into there final position take care as to not damage the root/crowns, These plants require a good well composted/manured soil so add plenty of well rotted manure to the planting site prior to planting - Rhubarb grows quite large so allow appx 3' (100cm) between plants. One in there final position water well in dry weather An annual top dressing around the crowns with a well rotted compost in early summer is advised as this not only feeds the plants but helps to keep moisture in the soil.
