About this time, my daughter was aware of an available open box Samsung laptop and brought it home for me. The laptop is very serviceable, but with the passage of time it was running very slow. Many times, I resorted to rebooting the computer to start over when the laptop froze up. I am quite computer literate and have opened desktops to do things like adding an additional hard drive. But I'm not really comfortable opening up a laptop and tinkering about. I knew that additional RAM might help as the laptop had only 4G, but didn't pursue this until a good friend encourage me to take a crack at it. I read a lot of interviews here on Amazon and focused on this 4G memory upgrade. One of the interviews recommended downloading a free copy of the software CPU-Z which I did (thank you very much). I learned so much about what is installed on my laptop including what RAM memory unit is already installed, how many additional slots are available and how well everything is working. I ordered the Samsung memory which was very easy to install. As soon as I rebooted and over the course of the last month, the laptop has been running lightening fast. I spent a lot of frustrating time before installing this memory, but am so happy with the results. Why did I wait so long? I will note that I'm not a gamer.
