I have not tried it but could prob cut a hole in the bottom and add sand. Then plug the hole with a cork or something. I have done this with light weight lawn ornaments and it works well. **Q: How big is this thing? Small enough to keep indoors or does it need to be outside?** A: I gave it to my Great granddaughter for christmas, so don't have it to measure. They do keep it in the house and I do remember it is no more than 2 feet tall. so it is about 24" by 12" by 9", not very big.
