I used this product immediately after a hair wash. My curls were defined and the style holds throughout the day. The product smells divine. It's thick and creamy. For this reason, it needs to be worked into the hair shaft. It has a tendency to sit on top of the hair in a white film. I find application onto wet hair and emulsified into the hair shaft works best. I did not need to apply any gel or holding spray. This product worked. It left my hair feeling soft and moisturised. The curls moved but had a firm feel. Not crunchy, more like a hold without crunch. No flaking either.
