I decided to stop harassing my workbench with it and change the brushes. I put in the new ones and while I had to smack it a couple of times to get them to seat it now works like new again. They're little bitty brushes and they work. Only a few minutes of operation corrected the fit.I ran it on low speed for five 1-minute sessions until the tool sounded normal. I'm not sure if my cautious adjustment was necessary, but I figured it was a safe way to avoid overheating the tool while there was extra friction.No problems so far and it sounds good.
