Sailor uses proprietary ink cartridges and converters, and they work on any of their pens that accepts ink cartridges. **Q: what is converter for?** A: A converter is used for bottled ink. With this Sailor pen you have the option of using Sailor ink cartridges or using a "cartridge converter". The converter fits in the pen where a ink cartridge would otherwise fit and can be filled with bottled fountain pen ink. **Q: Is the Sailor 1911 Fountain pen available with fine Nib ?** A: Yes it is. In fact Sailor offers 7 different nib grinds for this pen. I don’t know if you can find them on Amazon all the time though or if ever. That will depend on the sellers and what they offer. I was only able to find it recently as of Dec. of 2022, in medium grind. But I really liked the price and figured if I want to, in future, I can send it in to what is called a nib meister and have the nib ground to a different size and/or style. So I could, for instance, get a cursive italic grind, or thinned down to a fine. Extra money spent, yes. But still cheaper on a whole, with the price of the pen here and the nib meister’s new grind, than it is to purchase elsewhere.
