## Questions & Answers

**Q: What's the difference between this (Background Blender) and Martin/ F. Weber Bob Ross 2-Inch Blender Brush?**
A: The Background blender brush has sable-colored bristles that are nearly an inch longer than the 2" blender brush, and just a tiny bit stiffer. The background blender would be used for blending mountains, trees, water, etc. The 2" blender brush with the light colored bristles has a soft feel and I use it for "fluffing" clouds and skies for the most part. They really are two distinct brushes. Hope this helps!

**Q: Will be using acrylics using BRoss method but all his brushes specify oil. Should I get the equivalents for acrylics or will his brushes work? Thanks**
A: Plenty of people have found workarounds and have wet-on-wet techniques for acrylics that work just great. If one insists one following unnecessary rules, one will be confined in art. Durability matters, priming a canvas, things like that. I noticed someone said you can't pour acrylics, that's silly, they won't "mud mix" unless you stir them. And the point of pouring is to generally not touch but either tilt the surface, leave it be, or lightly drag something like a skewer in it. (Suminagashi and Ebru is the water surface version of this, also done successfully with various types of paints and enamels) The main thing to follow is to not overthin acrylics with too much water, as it will underbind the paint and not be durable over time. So, use mediums, and you can wet your brush or lightly pre-spray the canvas and brush it out to begin. I've had great success using Bob's techniques with acrylics, because I didn't know it was impossible. I just found ways to modify on my own. Then I found that YouTube has many artists who have various little tricks to do this, and had even more ways to make it work. And using this brush on acrylic will not make the sky fall, and won't affect the paint. I'd use it if I didn't already have several brushes that work. Another tip that is fun for acrylics is to buy a cheap set of relatively stiffer flat brushes, and pull back bristles and snip away, taking out little random sections, like little teeth, and do them differently. Then you have a wonderful set of "rake" brushes for fur, grasses, trees, and shrubbery. I noticed that Ryan O'Rourke on YouTube has a good little tutorial for people who are not sure how to go about it (he calls them square-headed brushes, don't let it throw you, they're just a flat brush). A $7 set of 10-12 brushes from a craft store, less a 40% off coupon;) makes it very comfortable and fun to hack away with some fine-tipped scissors, and create your own set, some with more or less left on the bristles. They range from small to large, I cut half of the brushes, every other one in size, and left the other half to beat up and splay in different ways, and I have a great little set for a wide range of effects. Yes, they did seem to have a lot of glue they used to shape them, and I washed them out well first, and one ferrule came off but that's what Mighty Mendit is for, no need to toss a brush, just glue it back with that stuff. It's a must-have household item...I'd do a similar hack for my oils, just haven't got to it yet. When you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun. Once you follow important rules like not painting acrylic over oil, just follow the ones that matter to make paint archival, then how you put it on doesn't matter if it is fun for you and looks how you want it to. You can intentionally crackle paint for effects as well. Anyway, Ryan O'Rourke, Clive, Michelle Thèrberge, Ianopolis (or close to that last name) and several others on YT also show some workarounds for acrylic wet-on-wet, and/or some good do's and don'ts... go explore and have fun:)

**Q: Will the ghost of Bob Ross visit me when using this?**
A: Always.

**Q: Some reviews claim this is not the real deal 2” brush sold by bob ross. is it a fake? if so, is it still a good brush for wet on wet landscapes?**
A: This product is the real deal. The issue is that Martin F. Weber used to be the manufacturer of Bob Ross products but lost the contract and went out of business. Now Bob Ross Inc. handles all production and distribution and they make the brushes in a different factory with slightly different materials. This product still works great for wet on wet landscapes but unfortunately the quality isn't as good as the brushes made by Martin F. Weber. We hope this helps!
