I prefer the stainless steel version over the plastic. the stainless steel feels more sturdy and dual re, and has the general "feel" of a garlic press where the plastic version seems a bit light. However, given the different pricingbetween the two, both are excellent for the cost and I would recommend. Review: The absolute best garlic press. - We use a lot of garlic in this house, and I always press it. I've gone through so many garlic presses over the years, it's not even funny. Fancy ones in stainless steel, cheaper ones in resin, I mean, I tried them ALL. They either rusted (even the fancy so call rust proof stainless steel ones), or were not dishwasher friendly, or broke after 6 months of use. This is my 2nd purchase of this garlic press. The first one lasted over 5 years, and that's with using it 5 days out of 7, and NOT for a single clove each time... They are sturdy, comfortable to use, and it's a breeze to remove the fibers before I toss it in the dishwasher.
